On 1st December 2009 it was announced Fiona Hyslop MSP for The Lothians replaces Mike Russell as Minister for Culture and External Affairs. "The responsibilities of the Minister for Culture & External Affairs include: Europe, external affairs, culture and the arts, architecture, built heritage, Historic Scotland, major events strategy, and Gaelic."
